Time and the Butterfly

A 5”x7” (mostly) monochrome work on paper, rendered in graphite with prismacolor and touches of watercolor.
Time is deep… incomprehensibly, infinitely deep. But when I think about deep time, even about the small amount of time I personally inhabit, I don’t see the long years that brought me here to “now”. Humans can’t hold that in our heads. Instead, I see a series of bright flashing moments, each as luminous and ephemeral as a butterfly. It’s the butterflies I remember.
Even old Father Time can be charmed by a butterfly.
