Home Is Where The Buffalo Roam
by Shirley Jackson
“Oh, give me a home where the buffalo roam
Where the deer and the antelope play
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day”
This piece was inspired by one of the places I call home: Wyoming. It features the most iconic animals of the Wild West – the American Bison, and is surrounded by Wyoming’s state flower, the Indian Paintbrush (also known as Prairie-Fire).
Home for me can not be pinpointed to a single city or state.
Home for me will always be the American West.
