Three Swords

This is Three of Swords card created for the forthcoming 78 Tarot Masters Medieval deck (coming late 2025).
The Three of Swords is a sorrowful card in tarot, traditionally depicted as a heart pierced by three swords, surrounded by raining clouds. I wanted to make my illustration more narrative, and since it was for a medieval-themed deck, the heart became a heart-shaped shield with a white hart coat of arms.
The painting is 6×10 inches, ink, watercolor, and acryla gouache on 190 lb Arches hot press paper. It comes matted with conservation mat, to fit an 11×14 inch size frame.
