Your mind seeks the static, humming, and hot.
If you turned it down forever, would you still know your thoughts?
Getting quiet has become one of the most important things to my well-being, but it’s certainly not always easy. I think many of us feel the impulse to surround ourselves with constant distraction, and I know for some, the idea of silence is genuinely terrifying. I can certainly understand this fear as one of the first times I truly got quiet with myself it opened up so many doors I had tried to shove closed and led to a flood of self-realization I had never expected, both terrifying and beautiful and heartbreaking and wonderful. I wanted to paint a helpful being as a reminder to tune in to yourself and turn down the static noise of worldly distractions. You never know what might flourish if you do.
