Mantle
by Allen Williams
A Mantle is a symbol of power and station. Most of the horns that I’ve drawn I consider to be more like a metaphorical mantle. The Egyptians would often depict people of power with bulls horns to imply strength. At the Well of Souls a sculpture of Moses was made with horns…said to have been a misinterpretation of the word “cornuta“…but it implied strength and power nonetheless.
8 x 10” graphite on Stillman & Birn Zeta Series paper placed directly into a frame.
