The Magician represents power and resourcefulness. It’s a card of logic and intellect and strength of the mind. He is the first step on The Fool’s journey to experience, and he dually displays both the innocence of the Fool and the experience that comes from worldly learning. Mistletoe was sacred to the druids, and represents masculinity and magic, especially when it grows on an oak tree. It’s an evergreen plant, and a parasite as well as a poisonous berry. Knowledge can be applied for good intentions, but the pursuit of it at all costs can be corrosive.
