Tarsier and The Rainforest Crawlies

In recent years I’ve really enjoyed creating drawings of “strange but true” little creatures out there. This is one of those drawings, based on the tarsier. This wide-eyed animal is one of the smallest known primates and can be found living in the trees amongst the islands of Southeast Asia. They feast on all kinds of insects, along with other smaller vertebrates.

Art: color pencils on quality paper

Art Size: 5 x 7 in, with double mat (gray/blue-black colors with gold embellishment added by me), basic/new frame in gray wood. Total size including mat/frame is 10 x 12 inches.

Using archetypes of characters from folklore and myth as well as her own stories, she enjoys portraying unusual tales that symbolize our hopes and fears. Kelley earned her MFA from the School of Visual Arts and her BFA from the Rhode Island School of design. Her favorite mediums are oils on wood and pencil on paper, and she loves to create her work by hand. Her favorite genres range from gothic and steampunk to classic fantasy and legends. Traveling is her only other passion equal to a career in art and is a vital component in inspiring her work.
