This piece is from my personal series, my attempt to depict a gaze with a twist. This series started with an idea that the subject I depict could be my perception itself instead of a representation of a figure. In this piece I was experimenting with an idea of being self conscious about someone’s gaze by placing the eyes as a choker on the figure’s throat. The figure’s eyes are covered in shadow to make her a submissive object in the image, because my focus here is to depict the fact we are looking at her as an object.
