Anubis
by Rhonda Libbey
Anubis the most recognizable god of the Egyptian pantheon, but did you also know:
The ancient Egyptians believed that at the end of your life in the underworld the god Anubis would place the heart of the deceased on some special scales to be weighed against the feather of Ma’at which represents the Truth. A heart which was unworthy would be devoured by the goddess Ammit and the owner would be condemned to wander forever in the Duat, which is a sort of in-between place of the underworld.

Artwork is oil and 24 karat gold leaf on a Human Heart shaped panel of wood – signed by the artist and ready to hang.

Rhonda Libbey
I have been a professional illustrator and graphic designer since 1996 and I have had the good fortune to work on some cool projects and I have shown in some great galleries.
My most recent works are created traditionally in oil paint and gold leaf, with oil paint layered in glazes on top of the metal to achieve a luminous effect. I am drawn to the contrasts of delicate and bold that both oil paint and gold leaf possess.
