The Gentlest Golden Brickhouse

by Breeyn

I picked up a book about dinosaurs in a bookshop a few weeks ago and saw an illustration of an ammonite, and I just really loved it. I studied a bunch to create this piece and… after everything that’s happened the last two weeks, it’s really made me think about the link between this creature and I over millions and millions of years. The way their fossiled shells are still found on beaches, and even though they aren’t roaming live anymore, nautilus are. So many millions of years later, and there are echos of ammonites all over the place. Spending time thinking about them, making art to honour them – it has been very comforting.

Created with gold sequin film, thread, and felt, hand-shaped and stitched into the frame. Frame measures 10 inches by 10 inches. Ready to hang.
