Queen of the High Court

by Katie Croonenberghs

Where trees grow sparse and rocks bare their faces

Moss and lichen color the ground

Where footprints show the days and paces

The highest view above all around

The sweep of wind to lift one’s wings

A note of breath and summer’s wane

Whisper on the wind and sound

Where the Queen of the High Court can be found”

Inspired by a high mountain glacial lake near Artist’s Point, Mount Baker national forest, Washington

Katie is a fantasy artist based in the greater Seattle area. Specializing in watercolor and currently exploring gouache, her focus is on fantastical creatures with strong roots in our natural world.

Landscapes and environments play a large role in her works as a result of growing up surrounded and inspired by majestic scenery of Montana, and further fed by the beauty of the Pacific North West.

Recurring themes in her work include dragons and other elegant mythical or magical creatures in fully rendered landscapes and environments - often times filled with plenty of trees and rocks.

Katie can often be found showcasing work at local conventions in the PNW.
