Divine Arrogance
by Nadia Rausa
This piece holds multiple personal meanings, but the basis of the imagery is inspired by my sleepless nights in which I’ve attempted to “count sheep,” only for a red sky to storm over and glowing red eyes to haunt me. Regardless of my attempts to count, “empty” my mind, etc., I found myself mentally wandering while my body was heavy in sleep deprivation. This piece also helped me process some religious trauma from growing up in an evangelical Christian church.
Medium & Surface: Watercolor and gouache on 300gsm cold pressed watercolor paper
