Aaron WolfWebsite  |  More EDOs

I have been drawing and actively illustrating my whole life, since I can first remember 35 years ago. I grew up in a once quaint town called Maple Ridge, 5okm outside of Vancouver, which has become a drug ravage shit-hole, crowded with mini malls and cookie cutter suburban sprawl. It was and still is surrounded by natural beauty including numerous beautiful lakes, flanked on its south by the mighty and murky Fraser River and the Alouette River runs through the heart coming from the snow capped glacial mountain, the Golden Ears. It was a small farming town for a century and some of those farms still exist in the northern township. It is from this natural beauty and the modern cancerous sprawl and the coexistence/juxtaposition, as well as a fondness for the past that I take from this town and bring into my artwork.

In 2007 I graduated from the Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver and shortly after paying off my student debt I began to travel, which I have done for a large part of the last decade, calling Vancouver home as well as Berlin, Melbourne, and Lund, Sweden. After nearly 3 years back in Vancouver, I left at the beginning half of 2018 to relocate temporarily to Sydney, Australia to focus on making art full-time and visit with my partners family and friends.

Her drawings are mixed media pieces often utilizing graphite, charcoal and pan pastels along with many other experimental mediums.

Alexis AmannWebsite  |  More EDOs

My art practice explores my uniquely personal narrative world of characters within a landscape that is a mix of mythical and natural, magical and mundane, part Oregon, part California, and part in-between Otherworld.

I make paintings, drawings, installations, illustrations, comics, and other objects that reflect this weird world—a place where you’ll encounter dancing fish, sentient turnips, werewolves, witches, harpies, magic cottages, mermaids, plants, monsters, and all manner of flora and fauna in between.

I was raised on the wild Oregon Coast, and have been based in the San Francisco Bay Area for almost two decades. I draw inspiration from the beautiful West Coast in both urban and rural environments – the city, forest, and ocean, of California and the Pacific Northwest. My work references and weaves together literature, mythology, dreams, natural history, fairy tales, and fantasy tropes, along with personal narrative, creating a resonant and unique visionary narrative world.

I earned my MFA in Painting from San Francisco Art Institute, and my BA in Drawing/Painting/Printmaking from Portland State University. I’ve exhibited my artwork in galleries widely, including Los Angeles, New York, Portland, Seattle, Detroit, and around the San Francisco Bay Area. I also enjoy teaching art and have developed and taught classes and workshops on narrative drawing and intuitive drawing and painting that focus on guiding students to develop their own unique inner vision in their art practice.

Alexis TriceWebsite  |  More EDOs

From a very young age, Alexis Trice has had an unrelenting obsession with drawing and painting, alongside a deep fascination with the flora and fauna often portrayed in her work. After graduating from The School of Visual Arts with a BFA in Illustration, she started her career primarily painting in oils. Trice sustains her strong connection with nature through volunteer work in the invertebrate wing of the American Museum of Natural History, assistant biology field work in the Amazon, and constant countryside excursions.

Trice’s work explores animal dignity, the cruelty of nature, and human interference. As death and suffering feed back into life and beauty, Trice breaks down and builds upon the destruction wrought by manmade forces. Our negligence, waste, and consumption are reflected back through an animal pain and victimhood we cannot separate ourselves from. Man, too, is animal, and Trice conveys this truth through a visual language of discomfort, fragility, and grace. Her work reminds us of the urgency of threatened landscapes, the contrivance of freedom, and the exquisiteness of a single still moment.

Trice resides in New York City.

Aria FawnWebsite  |  More EDOs

My name is Aria Fawn and I am a self-taught artist working full time out of my home studio. Though born in the otherworlds, I was mostly raised in Colorado where I live to this day ♡

My oneiric, dark and surreal art style is inspired by dreams, nature, and nostalgia.

My work mainly features animals with whom I seek to tell stories and offer an open discussion with the viewer.

Much of my work also deals with emotional underlying subjects surrounding mental health and difficult life situations portrayed through fantasy. My aim is to capture real and identifiable human emotions through animal fables, and give viewers a sense of sanctuary.

Aside from nature and animals, music has perhaps one of the most immense influences on my work, which has led to me getting to work on a number of album covers for musicians all over the world.

On the occasions I am not locked away in the studio, I spend my time exploring the otherworldly planes of the earth with my canine familiar, Shinigami, or else writing, sculpting, and obsessing lovingly over dead things.

Regardless of the means used to create, I always feel the most at home when I'm exploring, making things, encouraging creativity in others, and breathing life into ideas in ways that excite and inspire.

Christine GriffinWebsite  |  More EDOs

Christine is a fine artist and illustrator who enjoys creating quietly weird images, flavored by mystery, goth-folk and mid-western myth. Raised in West Virginia and currently living in central Ohio, she gravitates toward genre subjects—modern fantasy, speculative fiction and light horror—especially those familiar monsters that live under, and sometimes in, our own beds.

Although having earned a master's degree in painting from George Washington University in our Nation's capital, Christine is currently exploring all the ways to manipulate graphite and dry media over thin washes of iridescent watercolor. Gotta get those fingers dirty. The interplay between humanity, nature and power is a beloved motif, and she never tires of drawing clouds or strange eyes. She shows in galleries throughout the mid-west and on-line, and as an illustrator, also works digitally on book covers and interior graphics.

Her life is shared with one husband, three sons, and a punk-ass cat.

For twenty-six years I used my art to build imaginary worlds, populated by fantastic creatures. More recently, my desire for invented worlds has given way, unexpectedly, to a love affair with this world. I am experimenting with new approaches, both in terms of subject matter and craft. I am developing my instinct for authenticity... for things with real power. I find myself drawn to landscapes, both outward and internal, that feel real. My paintings document a slow, often frustrating, recommitment to the fundamentals of art, and a reconnection to the human experience.

Dan Cohen is a classically trained painter, sculptor and muralist. His work has been shown at galleries and events around the world – and on many buildings and walls.

Dan’s influences include world mythologies, occult sciences, and alternative states of consciousness. His signature elements – beautifully rendered forms, archetypal symbolism, Alien Deco designs – bridge the past and future, magic and technology.

He currently lives in Portland, OR.

“My Superhero Mission is to Re-Enchant the World. It’s all too easy these days to feel disenchanted, as though Magic and Wonder are dead and gone, encased in a tomb made of jaded cynicism and modern materialism. Magic and Wonder are still here of course, waiting to be acknowledged. Re-enchantment is attuning to the humming Soul of the World. It’s revealing the hidden layers of meaning that lie just below the surface of things. It’s playing with possibilities. It’s the feeling of a before unseen world crystalizing right before your eyes. Of peering into that unknown yet familiar world, then having the feeling that something is peering back.”

A word from Daniele’s collaborators:

Daria AksenovaWebsite  |  More EDOs

Daria Aksenova is best known for her pen and ink, suspended, cut paper narrative shadowboxes. The current focus of her work is the creation of cinematographic storytelling through constructed dynamism - arising from layering and complexity of composition - within a static media, inspired by her past experience with the fashion and film industries.

Daria Aksenova uses ink as it is an unforgiving medium that precludes editing and demands precision. Individual elements are then hand-cut with a scalpel and suspended against each other until the desired depth is achieved. Her technique demands a steady hand and unfailing commitment, often requiring over a hundred hours of dedication and intimacy with each piece.

The Subject matter choice is driven by her interest in symbolism, often reflecting conflict inherent to the human condition, as echoed through mythology and folklore. The balance of playful storytelling coupled with deeper-seated significance provides unique yet relatable work. Her pieces evoke a dreamscape-like narrative that pulls in both the eye and mind, presenting space and opportunity for the imagination to wander into a deep narrative that can only be experienced first hand.

Donato GiancolaWebsite  |  More EDOs

From J.R.R. Tolkiens' The Lord of the Rings to Botticellis' La Primivera, Donato Giancola balances modern concepts with historical inspirations to bridge the worlds of contemporary and historical figurative arts in his paintings. His influences encompass strolls of New York City streets as well as pilgrimages to museums - including the Uffizzi, Prado, Louvre, and Hermitage. Donato recognizes the significant cultural role played by visual art and makes personal efforts to contribute to the expansion and appreciation of the narrative genre that extend beyond the commissions of his clients. To those ends, the artist teaches at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, the Illustration Master Class in Amherst, Massachusetts and online through the SmArt School, and appears at various institutions, tournaments, and conventions worldwide where he performs demonstrations and lectures on his aesthetics.

Born in 1967 and raised in Colchester, Vermont, USA, art was always a hobby for the artist. It was not until the age of twenty that Donato enrolled in his first formal art class and began his professional education. After graduating from Syracuse University Summa Cum Laude with a BFA in Painting in 1992, Donato moved to New York City to immerse himself in the inspired and varied art scene. Formative years in the early nineties were spent as the studio assistant to the preeminent figure painter Vincent Desiderio, and long days of study in the museums of New York. It was then that his love and appreciation of classical figurative art took hold as his commercial illustration career flourished.

Since beginning his professional career in 1993, Donato’s list of clients has grown to include major book publishers in New York to concept design firms on the West Coast: notables include The United Nations, LucasArts, National Geographic, Scientific American, CNN, DC Comics, Microsoft, The Village Voice, Playboy Magazine, US Postal Service, Wizards of the Coast , Scholastic, Simon&Schuster, Tor Books, Random House, Time/Warner, The Scifi Channel, Milton-Bradley, and Hasbro. Ejiwa "Edge" EbenebeWebsite  |  More EDOs

Ejiwa "Edge" Ebenebe is a Nigerian-Canadian artist/illustrator currently based in BC, Canada. While their parentage is Nigerian, they were born outside of their homeland, and went on to experience multiple cultures throughout their childhood and early adulthood.

As an immigrant artist, they wrestle with the concept of community and identity, both within themself and in the work they create, and strives to create representation for voices (particularly Black and/or LGBTQ+ folks) who are often pushed out of positive, empowering narratives.

But also echoing throughout their work is a love for the whimsical, ethereal visions of the fairy tales and folk stories they grew up immersed in. From their passion for rich, vibrant colours, to the love of elaborate ornamentation, their varying homes have moulded their creative perspective in strong ways.

Though they are currently currently building their life in Canada, these roots continue to weave themselves throughout each piece they create. In combining all these influences they hope to create artwork that is both uplifting and whimsical, a respite from life’s rigors.

Genevieve MayWebsite  |  More EDOs

Raised in a renovated tobacco barn in a rural town outside of Northampton, Massachusetts, Genevieve May was born the daughter of accomplished artists and authors, Dennis Nolan and Lauren Mills. Genevieve remembers many formative trips to museums, art classes, and gallery openings, but did not fully appreciate and embrace her art enriched background until she was in her early twenties.

As a child she studied classical drawing and painting with her parents and later studied at Lyme Academy with classical painter Hollis Dunlap. In addition, she studied watercolor and fresco painting with Jeremiah Patterson and Fred Wessel in both France and Italy, and at the age of 14, studied egg tempera under Wessel at the Hartford Art School. In 2014, Genevieve attended the Bay Area Atelier studying under Graydon Parrish, Dan Thompson, Steven Early, and Michael Grimaldi. Art classes ranged from color theory to studying cadavers at Stanford labs in CA. In 2015, Genevieve graduated from the Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford having studied with her father, as well as Doug Andersen, and Bill Thomson, and then moved to NYC to work as a painter for Jeff Koons. During this time, she studied privately under renowned artist, Brad Kunkle, whom she considers to be her mentor. At the age of 27 she had her first solo show “Painting Strangers” which focused on portraits of the local community of Hartford, CT. In the following years five of Genevieve’s works were published in the 2017, 2018, and 2019 Artist Renewal Catalog (ARC).

Genevieve’s technique displays a wide range of styles. She enjoys combining abstract atmospheric scenes with realistic portraiture. She considers herself an allegorical painter, striving to paint matters of political, social, and environmental concerns in her work, while aiming to achieve a dream-like hypnosis over her viewers.

The consistent utilization of snake skin can be seen throughout Genevieve’s work. She is the mother of two boa constrictors and one carpet python, from which she continually draws inspiration, both visually and metaphorically. As well as being a painter, she is also a professional belly dancer, performing with her three snakes. Her love for these reptiles, along with Middle Eastern belly dance can be seen laced throughout her paintings. Genevieve’s goal as a painter is to evoke emotions often shielded and cast aside, while simultaneously telling the stories of those who need to be heard.

I dreamed of hidden stairways that led to unknown attics, or cellars underneath that held forgotten treasures. I knew I could get there if I just kept looking. Laura GarabedianWebsite  |  More EDOs

My childhood was spent moving, changing locations and school environments. My constant companions became a dragon’s horde of fantasy novels and my animals. This connection to creatures through the lens of fantasy has always been a touchstone for my work.

Through the years, I’ve experimented with many different media, wandering many paths. Now I’ve settled into the twin focuses of watercolor and oils. I find the dichotomy of their approach refreshing, and each time my hands move from one to the other I approach my work with new ideas and a cleaner view of where I should go.

Art is a way for my to communicate my love of the natural world and the fantasy I see within it. I think that the creation of a narrative around wildlife and fantastical animals can lead people to see the world and the many lives encompassed within it with more compassion and joy, returning the wonder of childlike curiosity to their lives.

I enjoy employing abstract backgrounds with minutely detailed subjects. The duality of the abstract work with small areas of focus lets the viewer fill in parts of strange color fields with their own story. My inspiration from nature and the narratives I like to weave around the strange beasts in my paintings lets me tell soundless stories to those who wish to explore them. In my paintings, bears covered in moss and trailing mushrooms emerge from the mist, gryphons dive from heights unknown with jewelry trailing them, and sphinxes ask questions unheard from behind blank masks. Where they come from, and what they want to say is left for those who watch them to determine. I hope through my work people can find a bit of mystery, of that wonder you have as a child making shapes in clouds, imagining what monster is in the closet, and making each walk in the woods a journey that may take them to Narnia, to Middle Earth, or to a world of their own making.

Lauren BrevnerWebsite  |  More EDOs

Born and raised in Vancouver, BC, Lauren Brevner grew up in a mixed heritage family rich with culture and inspiration. In 2009, she moved to Osaka, Japan in hopes of reconnecting with her roots. There, Lauren had the honor of apprenticing under renowned artist, Sin Nakayamal. It was through her mentor that she first began her work as an artist. Nakayamal was the inspiration that sparked her journey to self-taught fruition.

As a budding young artist, Lauren is at the forefront of her career. In the fall of 2014, she traveled to New York to complete an art residency. During her four-month stay, she spent the time further expanding her skill set and crafting a narrative. The composition of her paintings explores mixed-media through the use of oil, acrylic, and resin. This unique technical style is combined with a collage of Japanese chiyogami, yuzen, and washi paper on wooden panels. Her influence originates from the stylistic elements of traditional Japanese art and culture. She aspires to reinvent the eloquent tradition of using gold and silver leaf in art.

Lauren's paintings primarily involve the interpretation of female portraiture. She plays with polychromatic layers; the figures within it existing in surreal and isometric spheres. The women embody strength and femininity through somber silence. Their gaze a myriad narrative. Lauren Brevner seeks to create a commentary on the subject of women and their depiction in art throughout the ages. Her portrayal of women serves to empower rather than objectify: a reflection of the vitality of sensuality over sexuality.

Marta WitkiewiczWebsite  |  More EDOs

Hey! My name is Marta Witkiewicz and I’m a traditional artist, illustrator, and writer in love with the word “Magic”. I grew up in a small village in Poland but the chase after dreams took me places. Currently, I live in Madrid, Spain.

During the time of atelier-style education focused mostly on strict classical approaches, my heart was divided between the beauty of fine art and the unrestricted imagination of fantasy illustration. In my personal works, I aim to blur the edges between them – using the foundations that I’ve learned and storytelling to create enchanted worlds and characters.

I seek the feeling I have when I immerse myself in stories that give this thrill as if something magical was about to happen, the promise of an exciting adventure, a secret to be discovered. I want to grasp and spread this sparkle that makes people dream, wonder, and believe that everything is possible.

I've been exhibiting my works in galleries in US and Australia and currently am looking for a way to transition into more illustration industry.

Mary Ancilla MartinezWebsite  |  More EDOs

I am a New Mexican born artist who enjoys painting the misty and mystical, wild and free ethereal places where unseen greets seen, where dark weaves light, and land meets sea and sky. I appreciate the exploration of dreams, mythology, archetypes, alchemy and metaphysics. I am deeply inspired by nature….secret whispers from the desert winds, the language of trees, the power and magnificence of animals, the dynamism of the elements, and the infinity of the stars and cosmos. My work is primarily figurative and narrative, created mainly in oils. My current focus examines personal sovereignty inspired by Greek, Celtic, Spanish, French, African and Indigenous mythology. I strive for meaning and intention in each piece, and simultaneously enjoy the engagement found in pure process. I seek a feeling of transcendence in my paintings and desire for my work to touch the viewer with a sense of the divine.

Matsya DasWebsite  |  More EDOs

Hey! My name is Matsya Das. I'm an inhabitant of the many realms that my mind wanders, and drawing and painting have always been tools to physically recreate these places, materialize their essence and share them with others. Since my childhood, I have always been impressed with the artwork of artists of yore; and their depictions of gentle fairies, mystical mountains and magical forests. These subjects enticed my own journeys and freed my young imagination.
Spirituality also holds a place of its own in my life. Being a Hare Krishna devotee for the past 10 years has humbled me in regarding the wonders of this universe and also the transcendence. Nedless to say, my spiritual journey is an intrinsical part of both the subjects and aesthetic of my work.

Momi LottaWebsite  |  More EDOs

Romina Pallotta is an Argentine illustrator and painter living in Wroclaw, Poland. She was born in Mar del Plata in 1982. She studied Filmmaking at the University of Buenos Aires.

Her art usually represents the duality between her imagination and the real world. She hopes to provoke with her paintings the feeling of an escape from reality which she says is so liberating. She intends to transmit this to her viewers.

She likes anything that takes her away from reality. Movies, books and video games. But she prefers painting in a realistic way because she wants to feel that fantasy comes to life.

Her favorite subjects are nature, relationship bonds and coexistence of good and evil.

Her pieces reveal that she not only adores the Romantic Period but also shows her love for nature, overflow of feelings and melancholy. She also has been influenced by portraits of this period such as painters of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood who are definitely her favorites.

She uses acrylic paint and surfaces like canvas, paper and wood.

“My art is my essence, it is part of who I am. I wish I could say that I paint to communicate a message, but the truth is I paint just for the pleasure of doing it. I cannot express myself with words but I need to paint every day. The subjects I choose and the creative work I do are an excuse to paint. When I paint I enter a different state of consciousness, I like to be there and I cannot do it any other way.”

Art to help make science a more meaningful part of our lives.

Through countless mythological and religious traditions, humanity has proven to have a deep-seated need for awe-inspiring stories and the experience of wonder. With a powerful resonance, these stories provide a framework for understanding where we fit in our communities, and in our cosmos. They can also give a us a feeling of shared connection and participation with the rest of humanity, helping us to show our more caring and compassionate side.

What are the resonant, positive, and awe-inspiring stories of today? How can our expanding scientific knowledge drive our enchantment with the natural world and grow our empathic interests toward our fellow humans? Exploring these questions visually, Rob hopes to promote or create the stories that best help us to achieve these goals.

SeEun AnWebsite  |  More EDOs

I am an artist from South Korea who has a passion for storytelling in the universe I created. Thinking about how people in my imaginative world would live and make a relationship with their neighbors is always exciting. Designing their fashion, hairstyle, and everyday objects is also what I find the big joy in my creative process.

Films, animation, music, fragrance, and random words from poems or puns inspire me when creating new paintings. They give me complex sensational experiences that I practice applying in my painting. I put stories, emotions, and inspirations into communication with color.

Stephanie Law's work is an exploration of mythology mixed with her personal symbolism. Her art journeys through surreal otherworlds populated by dreamlike figures, masked creatures, and winged shadows. The fantastical permeates through the visions, and you get a sense that this is a world that underlies our own.

Archetypes, the basis for the universal appeal of mythological concepts, are one of the defining inspirations for her imagery. This is mingled with the movement of dance. Stephanie has been a dancer for almost two decades, and she uses that experience of how the human body moves and emotes to create a bridge into her artwork so that not only do the humans dance across the page, but the very branches of her trees seem to move with a sinuous grace, and the arrangement of inanimate elements has a choreographed rhythm and flow.

Growing up in California, Stephanie has been surrounded by the wealth of natural inspiration all around her. The twisting boughs of live oaks from the hills near her home insinuate themselves into her paintings. The chaos of Nature's wild growth, and conversely the beauty of decay, echo in the textures and fractal patterns of her work.

Her techniques are mostly based in watercolor, supplemented by textured relief created with gesso and texturing mediums, ink, and metallic pigments.

Suzanne KobelaWebsite  |  More EDOs

Suzanne is a surreal artist based in Budapest, Hungary. Specializing in gouache, acrylics and mixed media, their artworks often illustrate grotesque, fantasy characters based on nature and natural elements.
The „creepy-cute” designs of the characters stand for the imagination of the inner-child that accompanies us through our whole life however, their macabre state is not something to be sorry for. It shows the complexity of a person from a psychological point of view. This concept also points to the expression "Face your subconscious", which often appears in descriptions of their artworks.

Tiffany BudziszWebsite  |  More EDOs

Flora and fauna (real or imagined), nature, and symbolism are subjects I find fascinating and often explore in my work. The beauty of the natural world is often found in the details. My goal is to inspire the viewer to slow down and appreciate the intricacies found in life (and art), that are often overlooked in our busy, everyday lives.

I create my paper sculptures by cutting intricate shapes from archival paper with an X-Acto knife. I curve the individual cut shapes with a dowel, then glue the pieces together between layers of foam core to create dimensional works of art. While this may seem tedious to some, the process of cutting, shaping, and creating are moments of pure happiness for me.
