Sinornithosaurus

by Owen Weber

Sinornithosaurus was a dromaeosaurid dinosaur living in the Early Cretaceous Period (124-122 million years ago) in China.  It was covered in feathers, which may have given it a gliding ability.  It was also a fairly small dromaeosaur, measuring less than 4 ft long and weighing 11 lbs.  There are theories that this dinosaur may have had a venomous bite, though it has not been proven.

This painting was inspired by Pride month this year.  I painted most of it in June, intending for the two Sinornithosauruses to be male, having a little snuggle.  There is lots of evidence that animals of all species can be homosexual, so why wouldn’t there be dinosaurs exhibiting the same behavior.  I wanted to release this in June, but why can’t we celebrate Pride all year long?
