The Headwrap

by Odera Igbokwe

Created in Acrylics, Ink, Posca markers, and color pencil on paper

This study from “The Black Crown Collection” is a celebration of the headwraps found across the diaspora. Sometimes sacred and spiritual coverings, other times simple accessories for function and fashion. With this painting I wanted to explore the forms of the headwrap, and the embodiment of textiles and pattern.
