Distel faery

by Iris Compiet

As a distel grows older their spininess increases. Older distels are less agile and are easier prey. As a defence, they develop more rigid prickles to ward off danger. In medieval times people believed that a distel faery held the cure against baldness. Distels were collected and sold as a miracle cure, rendering them almost extinct.

“Iris Compiet’s work is an astonishing and masterful revelation of the Faery Realms. She is an artist who, with stunning alacrity, reveals the fleeting personalities of the normally unseen.”
