Ammonis
by Allen Williams
Named because of her resemblance to the fossil Ammonite, that being a derivative of the Egyptian Amun, the horned god. She is a small study in texture, rhythm and color. Her mantle, or horns if you prefer, are intended to look both rigid and flexible…like horn and tentacle combined. A balance of power.
This piece is oil and modeling paste on gessoed Stonehenge Cream Journal paper. She is 4″ in diameter and framed.
